Collsacabra adventure camp

Sometimes, small ideas become great experiences and that story talks about that.

When our friends, Gisela and Sergi, talked to us about Impuls Rupit as their personal project and all the ideas that they have in mind to make their house the perfect place for cycling travelers, we just fell in love with it.

They live in Rupit that it’s an awesome village and its surrounded by magic mountains, beautiful landscapes, and some lakes. A perfect place for cycling.

A small idea from Sergi that proposed to us, it became a great weekend riding thru Collsacabra area with a perfect company.

They were two days full of adventure, cycling, fresh air, good food and gravel, a lot of gravel. The Impulse Rupit guys were perfect hosts, and they took us to crush kilometers in the surrounding mountains. Wild west environment, green hills, large formations of rocks and plateaus, whitewater, oak forests, blooming mountain meadows, silence, spectacular landscapes, grazing cows, picturesque villages and majestic eagles, do we need something else?

DAY 1. From Rupit to Pantà de Sau

After a strong breakfast, we go out with the batteries charged, a great day was waiting for us.

A few km from Rupit we enter the forest through paths full of branches and bushes following Sergi and Gisela who showed a perfect knowledge of the route and the area.

We climbed thru a mountain from which we had a perfect view of Collsacabra and the Valley. A bit later, we arrived at the Santuari de la Mare de Deu del Far, where we took the opportunity to cool off and freak out with the view offered by the viewpoint.

It was time to downhill but, this time, the track didn’t allow us to go cycling because there was a difficult walking path and we had to walk during some meters.

Returning to pedal, we went to a beautiful area of the valley, the ground step from dry gravel to red mud and very concrete, perfect landscape to enjoy riding fast.

During the route we met Sergi’s grandfather, “el Avi”, a legend, a portrait of the traditions and the way of living the mountain, a few more kilometers and we arrived at a farmhouse, where we took some beers, sausages, and local food.

From there, we went into the forest that was already towards night, night lamps and howls, in about ten minutes of pure darkness we arrived at the shelter where we were going to spend the night. A unique place where you can appreciate silence and nature.

After a great day by bike, we spent the night in a cabin, cooking, with some beer, and talking by the fireplace until fatigue was with us.

DAY 2. Pantà de Sau to Rupit

(32km / 796m+)

In the morning we got up we picked our things and next to a delicious coffee, we enjoyed the sun and the views of the reservoir that offered the cabin.

A small issue with the boat made us opt for an alternative route, a sweet surprise awaited us…

After several kilometers climbing a hard gravel road we find a beautiful wall of beautiful loose stone, sometimes the unexpected adds a touch of fun and adventure. We spent the morning with the bike on our backs, each climbing as best we could.

Finally, we reached the top and, taking some fresh air, we were back on our bikes.

We finish the route in a great restaurant with a grilled steak, accompanied by fresh beer. The best way to enjoy the company and a magic weekend.
