As far as we can, we love to go and explore a new place and, this time, it was the turn of Basque Country, in the north of Spain.
We had this destination as one of our mandatory trips for this year and, finally, we had the opportunity to go there to visit our friends from Etxeondo and, also, take part in Deiadar Gravel. It’s the first edition of that event and it was about two days of pure gravel though the most epic mountains of Bizkaia
Deiadar Gravel – DAY 1 (118 km / 2,600 m+)
We already knew about the steep climbs of the Basque Country and the track profile of the first day didn’t look easy. Anyway, we started with a motivated mood and perfect weather. There were some old friends and wwe were really happy to share this event with them.
Some big climbs appeared and in spite of the event was not a race, the ones that we love racing we couldn’t avoid pushing hard in some hills.
It was amazing, you could smell nature everywhere, and that fog made it epic.
The event organization was really good, they took care of all of us, food, drink, technical support… and, obviously, really nice tracks to ride.

Deiadar Gravel – DAY 2 (72 km / 2,000 m+)
The first day was hard but we could recover energies during the rest of the day and we could sleep pretty well, I could say that we were more or less ready to have another great day of gravel. It was going to be shorter but also harder.
Lucky to us for all the tracks were completely surrounded by a nature paradise, big mountains, and really nice views and we could enjoy a lot and forget for a while the pain that we had in our legs.
Hill after hill, we suffered and pushed hard to overcome all the obstacles and cross the finish line as soon as possible.
After 5.000 m+ of elevation gain during two hard days of gravel, we were done but we were already waiting for the next edition of Deiadar Gravel.
